About MOFA Attestation

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MOFAIC) — commonly referred to as MOFA or the foreign ministry — is the final authority for document legalization in the UAE. MOFA attestation is the last step in the attestation chain, applied after your document has been verified by the issuing country's authorities and authenticated by the UAE embassy or consulate. Without the MOFA stamp, your document will not be accepted by UAE government departments, employers, courts, or educational institutions.

MOFA now processes all foreign affairs attestation requests exclusively online through its official website (mofa.gov.ae) and smart application. Individuals log in using UAE Pass, while companies use the MOFA website directly. Processing options include standard (3 working days, AED 40) and express (1 working day, AED 150). Commercial documents carry higher fees of AED 2,000-2,300. Documents must be in English or Arabic — if in another language, a certified legal translation by a UAE Ministry of Justice-approved translator is required first.

MOFA attestation is required for employment visas, family visa sponsorship, education equivalency and university admissions, business setup and company registration, using marriage, birth, divorce, or medical certificates in the UAE, and recognizing UAE-issued documents abroad. MOFAIC handles attestation for educational certificates (degrees, diplomas, transcripts, marksheets), personal certificates (marriage, birth, medical, police clearance), and commercial documents (trade licenses, contracts, invoices, power of attorney).

The MOFAIC has introduced a new digital attestation stamp, replacing the old green circular seal. The updated MOFA stamp features a QR code and a security barcode for instant online verification through UAE Pass. Both old and new stamps remain valid, but all new attestations use the latest digital format.

MOFA attestation services are available across the UAE — Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Al Ain, and all other emirates. While MOFA has offices in Abu Dhabi (main headquarters on Airport Road), Dubai (Trade Centre area near the consulate district), and other emirates, attestation is handled entirely online. No physical visit to any MOFA office is needed. AttestExpress handles the entire MOFA submission process on your behalf, including online application, document submission, tracking, and doorstep delivery of the attested document across Dubai and all emirates.
